3000gt automatic to manual

I'm doing a motor swap and also wanted to convert it to a stick shift. It appears it cannot be done because there is no place to put the clutch cylinder. There is no template to drill any holes and looks like there's no way to get a drill in there. So it this not possible. Any help would be appreaciated. You'd have to get ahold of a front manual transaxel, clutch assemble, gear shift assembly, NEW ECU. Its possible I believe but I'd be one hell of a project. I'll wait for some more knowledgable members to chime in here. Levi I searched in the fwd section. Not much in there. I meant the clutch resevoir not the cylinder sorry for the confusion. There's a sensor there iirc. I want to know how other people did it so I can do it too. I'm very anti-auto it's just boring for me. There is a write up on the process. I can send you a copy if you give me your email address or you can find the link on this board. I was going to do it to my sons 99 SL, but he sold it and bought a C5 Corvette 6-speed. Drilling the clutch hole in the firewall is the most awkward maneuver. The rest is straight forward mechanical work and some minor rewiring for the tranny reverse light switch. I still have some of the parts required: clutch pedal, brake pedal, accelerator pedal assembly, gear shifter and cable, manual transmission dust plate, I think I have the clutch master and slave cylinders with cables, too. I put the F5m33 tranny in another car, though. Send me a pm if you want to discuss. Yes the Clutch Master is the hardest part of the conversion. I just used my dremel and a cutter bit to cut mine out. It was easier for me as I had the dash out of the car so plenty of room to work.Just remove it send sell it once you complete the swap.http://auto-rujo.com/images-editor/yamar-aire-cool-service-manuals.xml

Here is a list of the parts you will need to complete the swap: shifter assembly, shifter cables, brake and clutch pedal assembly, slave cylinder, master cylinder, lines, starter, passenger axle, drivers side intermediate shaft, starter, flywheel, clutch kit, engine to trans brackets and the trans. Done this several times. Short shifter, Battery relocate. EBC front slotted rotors, EBC Yellow stuff Pads, 3SX SST brake lines, sway bars, springs. No IAC, NO AC, NO extra weight, VR4 ECU as of NG2011. Still 10 to 1 slugs, Nitto NT05 Comptition Road Course Racing tires.I've searched for any other topics similar and all I find is awd conversion and an expired link. The motor is out and I want to get his done asap. Apparently I'm going to need an axle and stater everything else I have. Really I just need to know where and how to drill through the firewall. Any links? Thanks guys. So if something could be posted on this, I would appreciate it. Maybe a link or something. I have a 91 Dodge Stealth that is Automatic and a 92 parts car that is a manual. Should have all the parts right. Just wondering about the process. I definitely don't have the tools so I'll have to find someone who does, but that's another problem for another time! All I need is re-wiring the cas ( went from 2nd gen to 1st gen) and reverse lights. I say the best way has to be with the motor out. Not sure it can be done with the motor inside. You'll need the space to drill and to install the the clutch lines. Then you can put the starter and everything while the motor is out. Don't forget the transmission bracket. I used the same radiator. I'm looking into it as a project for this year but I need to figure out how much help I'm going to need for this. Now you said you had rewiring to do. Is that only because you went to a first generation. I have a 92 Stealth and a 91 stealth. I want to swap the one from my 92 into the 91 to make it a manual, am I going to have to deal with wiring too?http://www.masterdruck.ro/promo/yanmar-3jh3-4jh3-series-marine-diesel-engine-complete-workshop-repair-manual.xml

I've yet to do that but hope to be done this week if weather permits. Something with the nuetral has to be done too I think. Don't quote me on that. But I am definitely going to need back up for this. I don't have the tools or experience to swap out trannies. Did you have to mess with the clutch assembly at all (for instance with the hydraulics or linkage)? Did you have to mess with the clutch assembly at all (for instance with the hydraulics or linkage)?Yes? I removed the auto pedal assy and then mounted the manual assy to mark the hole for the master cylinder from the inside using the pedal assy as a template. Then I used a die grinder to cut the holes. That would be the hardest part. Everything else was pretty straightforward. The reason it won't work is because you need to get a driver side axle from a 5spd or whatever your converting. I've also discovered that the passenger will not go in the tranny neither. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it's because I'm going from second gen to first. I'm pretty sure you to re-wire the cas being that they're located on the opposite sides of the engine. Doubt he car will start. Hopefully I get all this done tomorrow and can finish the thread. I seem to remember having to change the intermediate shaft for this swap. That looks like the piece that bolts to the passenger frame rail and braces the fuse box. Your car will not start until you bypass the neutral safety switch. Aside from that it will run fine. You'll also have to wire the reverse light wires to the switch on the trans. The reason it won't work is because you need to get a driver side axle from a 5spd or whatever your converting. Hopefully I get all this done tomorrow and can finish the thread.Read the FAQ if you haven't, my guide is in there. Note to both of you in case you haven't discovered yet, the starter is different too. I think this happened because I kept the car in 5th when I should have dropped it to 4th. While I don't do this type of.

Just took out my broken regulator (on my 1999) to replace but they don’t match up. The bottom metal part is. Anything to broaden the platform is fine with me. That being said, the few of you that are getting your panties in a wad about the 6G dying and the 4G swap will kill our platform, all I can do is shake my head lol. I'm impressed.:unsure:Can i even put one in there. I just want to buy one so i can have a charger in the car.Come join the discussion about performance, modifications, VR4 turbo upgrades, troubleshooting, maintenance, and more. This is a manual transmission. The parts car has a motor that knocks and blah blah blah everything else is good. My motor runs flawlessly. I was wondering if it was possible to swap my engine coming from an auto straight out of the factory to this manual version. The way the engines and transmissions are designed, are they compatible to be exchanged. Reason for asking. I love my 3000gt, but I would love it more if it was a manual. Besides. My auto tranny doesn't seem like it will last much longer. This is a manual Thought I had one and paid for it only to find I think that it is too much trouble Do you think it is the clutch or transmission? Stopped at store Had lost around two quarts of oil. In North America, the model was produced as a captive import for Chrysler, branded as the Dodge Stealth for model years 1991 to 1996. All of the cars were equipped with the 181.4 cubic inch 6G72 V6, and they varied based on whether they had single- or dual-overhead cams, turbos, and the number of valves. The second generation Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, model years 1994-1997, came equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission from Getrag. These cars had more aggressive gearing, so the driver should upshift from third gear at around 107 mph as opposed to 120mph with earlier models. Other Mitsubishi GTOs came with 4-speed automatic transmissions or 5-speed manual transmissions. Those looking for a Mitsubishi 3000GT for sale in the UK who want power and performance in addition to a 90s sports car look should check out the VR4. The VR4 also came with 4-wheel steering standard, with the rear wheels turning up to 1.5 degrees at speeds of 30 mph or more. This feature was meant to improve stability at high speeds. Of all of the Mitsubishi 3000GT for sale, the VR4 also had larger standard brakes and a tunable exhaust system.User Agreement, Privacy, Cookies and AdChoice Norton Secured - powered by Verisign. Sign up Log in Send Mitsubishi Mitsubishi is the automobile manufacturer with a long history following Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., represented in events such as manufacturing “Mitsubishi A -type” in the Taisho era (1912 to 1926). After the bubble economy Mitsubushi was financed by Daimler Chrysler. Now in current style, Daimler AG has taken up only the Mitsubishi Fuso trucks-buses section, and sold shares of Mitsubishi Motors, which became the passenger car manufacturer. Mitsubishi and Daimler's connection is still continuing by Mitsubishi supplying engines to Smart, the Daimler group company, but in recent years, the OEM supply of Outlander to Peugeot and overall partnership with Peugeot is much noticeable. After the alliance cancellation with Daimler, Mitsubishi had a difficult time for introducing new cars in the market. However, these days it is successively introducing new cars, and that is clearly reflected to business management. In 2009 electric vehicle “i-MiEV”, which is based on mini vehicle “I”, was sold to the market earlier than other manufacturers.Selected: Pre-ship inspection Insurance Nearest port: Country Please Select Nearest port Please Select Shipping Please select if you want to know shipping cost. Also when the drive train was designed I think they did not care about the people who will have to service the car down the road. The rear quarters tend to get rust, I have seen it on mine, and noticed it on many others. Except for that the body is solid. The rear seats are pretty much useless, the hatchback makes the trunk fairly large.

I can still keep up with the current mustangs but you can start to feel the difference 15 years or technology makes when you go up against the new camaro or a modified mustang. The AWD keeps the car tight on turns and gives the driver the extra control that you do not have in traditional RWD sports cars. Just have some money set aside if you are thinking about getting this car, it does have issues that can be expensive to fix, also it doesn't help the car is becoming rare and rare usually means expensive hard to find parts. Other taxes may apply. Manufactured in Nagoya, Japan, the four passenger coupes were marketed in the Japanese domestic market (JDM) as the GTO and globally as Mitsubishi 3000GT.They resurrected the GTO name, and the car went on to serve as Mitsubishi's flagship for the remainder of the decade. Despite the cachet of the badge at home, it was marketed as the Mitsubishi 3000GT and as the Dodge Stealth outside Japan; the company was concerned that connoisseurs would object to the evocative nameplate from the highly regarded Ferrari 250 GTO and Pontiac GTO being used on a Japanese vehicle. In Japan, the base GTO SR included all-wheel drive; no front-wheel drive version was offered. The GTO SR had similar power output figures as the US spec 3000GT SL and was offered with the same five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions. Japanese buyers did not receive the SOHC V6 which was standard on the base model US only Dodge Stealth and US spec 3000GT. Japanese buyers had the choice of either a naturally aspirated DOHC V6 and twin-turbocharged DOHC V6.Instead of the TD04-09B turbochargers used on Japanese and US Twin Turbo models, the EU-spec model received the higher capacity TD04-13G turbochargers. All were painted Lamborghini yellow and were equipped with a Remus sports exhaust, OZ Futura rims, a numbered plate signed by Beckenbauer, and a C-net mobile phone system.

They were unveiled in August 1993 in Japan and gradually made their way to other markets as the first generation cars sold out. The interior was redesigned with dual air bags, a new audio system, and revised air conditioning refrigerant. The engines in the twin-turbo models received an increase to 320 hp (239 kW) and an increase in torque from 307 to 315 lb?ft (416 to 427 N?m). Japanese models received an increase in torque, but the power rating remained unchanged at 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp). With subsequent price increases, features were discontinued: the tunable exhaust was phased out after 1994 model year, the ECS after 1995 model year, and the active aerodynamics disappeared after 1996. This was also when Chrysler ceased sales of the Dodge Stealth captive import, and for the remainder of its life only Mitsubishi-badged versions were available. In 1996 the 3000GT Spyder was available in red with tan interior, black pearl with tan leather, white pearl with tan leather interior, and green pearl with tan leather. SL Spyders were only available with an automatic transmission while the VR4 Spyder was only available with a 6-speed manual. Please help improve this section by adding citations to reliable sources. ( February 2020 ) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message ) The GTO MR was essentially a lightweight GTO Twin Turbo that deleted 4WS, ABS, ECS and Active Aero, but was mechanically identical to the normal GTO Twin Turbo. Chassis numbers for the MR start with Z15A.As the years went on, the Tuneable Exhaust System was phased out in 1995 and the Active Aero was phased out in 1996, allowing for less weight, which made the vehicle much quicker. The new 6-speed, while notchy, was geared well and the extra horsepower and torque allowed it to out-accelerate most of its rivals, especially from a standing start to top speed.

Slower sales in the American sports car market led to a planned facelift for 1997 being abandoned in favor of minor cosmetic adjustments, including a new front bumper and rainbow shaped arched type wing. The Dodges had different bumpers than the turbo cars. Otherwise the non-turbo cars looked cosmetically like the turbo cars. These cars were front wheel drive and lacked four-wheel steering and active aero. They came with a 5 speed manual (F5M33) or with automatic transmissions. Both the DOHC and SOHC 6G72 V6 was offered in this platform, with the DOHC being the more powerful.Retrieved 3 February 2014. The Dodge Stealth, 3000GT's automotive twin for the past several years, ceased production last year and Base 3000GTs borrows many of the deceased Stealth's cues including its lower priced, single overhead camshaft engine. New exterior nuances include restyled front fascia and larger, arched rear spoiler. Background: In the late 1980s and early 1990s, a flurry of Japanese high-performance sports car hit the American market including the Nissan 300ZX, Mazda's third-generation RX-7 Toyota's updated Supra and, in 1991, Mitsubishi's new 3000GT. The Japanese-built 3000GT outsold all three competitors combined in 1995 and Nissan's 300ZX and Mazda's RX-7 no longer are sold in the United States. Sales of sporty coupes have lost momentum in the 1990s. Mitsubishi is Japan's fourth biggest carmaker. Trim levels: Mitsubishi's 3000GT is available in three trim levels: the reworked, 1997 Base model, the SL mid-level and top-of-the-line, ultra high performance, 320 horsepower VR-4 with full-time, all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering. Mitsubishi no longer builds 3000GT retractable hardtop convertibles as it had in years past. Price: Mitsubish's 3000GT comes in a wide range of prices. In the 1997 model year, a tad fewer standard features are offered.

Still, Base models are decently equipped. Safety: Driver and passenger air bags are standard across all trim lines. Anti-lock brakes are not offered on Base editions, optional in SL and standard in VR-4. Traction control is not available. Seating comfort: Drivers sit relatively low to the ground. Like most sporty coupe competitors, the four-seat interior has next to no back seat leg room when front bucket seats are positioned all the way back. Our Base edition had cloth knit, six-way adjustable front bucket seats. Other trim levels incorporate Leather front seating surfaces. Headroom is a bit tight drivers six feet and taller. Interior: Side blind spots are not as bad as some sporty, two-door competitors. A center flip-top storage bin houses a transportable dual cup holder. But when removing the plastic molded cupholder, we found no good location to hook or place the cup holder without it wobbling. The best advice is probably to keep the cup holder in the bin with the top flipped up. Cruise control turns on via a toggle switch on the center console, while resume and set functions are found on the steering wheel. Power window buttons are molded into the side of the driver's door, but on more than one occasion, my knee inadvertently hit the buttons, activating the windows. Hatchback and fuel-door release levers are on the floor, left of the driver's bucket seat. Remote outside mirror controls get blocked from view and easy accessibility by the steering wheel. Mitsubishi's 3000GT incorporates a more traditional dash set up rather than a 'wrap around' cock-pit design found in some competitors. Notable standard equipment: Power steering, air conditioning, cruise control split folding rear seat power windows and door locks, power mirrors, retractable radio antenna and tilt steering column are standard in all trim levels. Engine and drivetrain: Front wheel drive comes standard on Base and SL editions.

The powertrain includes an electronically controlled, multi-point fuel injector with twin spray injectors. Exterior: Muscular design cues turned more than a few heads during our week-long test drive. Base models include 16-inch alloy wheels. The new arched rear spoiler is one of the largest I've seen in a while, but shows up prominently in the rear view mirror. Fuel Economy: The Base 3000GT with five-speed manual transmission registers 19 miles per gallon in city driving, and 24 mpg highway. With automatic transmissions, miles per gallon drops one gallon respectively. Our test drive vehicle, with 6,500 odometer miles, registered 21 mpg in combined driving. The gas tank holds 19.8 gallons of unleaded fuel. Dimensions: Overall length: 180.3 inches Overall width 72.4 inches Overall Height 49.1 inches Wheelbase (distance between front and rear axle): 97.2 inches Front head room: 37.1 inches Final thoughts: This vehicle was never designed as a practical, family car. It's a bit noisier on the highway then many competitors, but that's half the fun of driving a sleek sportster. In 1989, the Daily Herald began a weekly Saturday Auto Section and he was shortly appointed editor.
